The Royal Dutch Swimming Federation is proud to announce that its president Erik van Heijningen is elected as a new member in the FINA Bureau. The election was held during the FINA General Congress in Barcelona on July 26th.
After many years of voluntary service to aquatics Erik is ready for the step to the Bureau. To summarize his experience in aquatics:
- 12 years President of the Dutch federation (succesful years);
- member of the LEN-Bureau since 2006, Vice-President since 2008;
- Chairman of the FINA Doping Panel since 2009.
It goes without saying that his long professional experience in the world of Dutch government, politics and law is helpful in fullfilling his duties. Due to his knowledge of several languages it is a pleasure for him to communicate directly with so many friends and colleagues in our world.
Erik is aware of the responsibility of LEN to unite on a proposal for the two European world-at-large-positions. He will do as much as he can to stimulate such a process.
